Mrs. Speck's Sprouts
8-14-18 We had a spectacular first day of school! The students listened to The Kissing Hand story, made handprints, and created a first day of school crown. We talked about school rules and the number one. We learned a little bit about reading and math stations. Homework begins tonight. Click on the link in the blue box that says "Speck's Sprouts" to take you to our other class website that has a page and a video about how to do the homework.
8-21-18 We are off to a great start in the school year. We have been reading the book Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes to learn new vocabulary words, ask and answer questions about the story, and we will write/draw about how Chrysanthemum's feelings change throughout the book on Friday.
8-31-18 After reading the book "A Bad Case of Stripes" all week, the class did a taste test to see if they liked lima beans. The response was "Yes!"
9-24-18 Whoo! September is flying by so fast! We are learning all about our senses, apples, Johnny Appleseed, and Comparing Numbers. We will finish learning how to write our letters this week, so the handwriting book will be coming home and it is yours to keep. If there are any blank pages, you can practice them at home. We will be smelling, tasting, and looking at hot apple cider on Friday. Don't be absent!
10-12-18 The House of Adimento won with the most house points in the first nine weeks. They have won a free field trip that will be in November.
10-22-18 We are collecting non-perishable food this week. The top three classrooms that collect the most will earn a ice cream or pizza party!!! House points are also given for every item.
10-29-18 - We won first place for the classroom collecting the most cans! Whoop, Whoop!
11-16-18 - I feel like all we did was eat today! Snack, Snack Shack, and our ice cream party! Thank you to Mr. Smitty for buying the whole class snack shack! If anyone would like to donate some Clorox/Lysol wipes to our classroom, we would greatly appreciate it!
12-14-18 What would you do to make the Grinch grin? Well, we would give him a hug, candy canes, a gingerbread house, a yellow cat, a Christmas hat, and a present just to name a few!
